GARRISON, New York – The historic Bird & Bottle Inn in Garrison recently received an Award of Excellence for its wine list from Wine Spectator magazine, making it one of only 30 restaurants in the Hudson Valley to receive this prestigious award. The Restaurant Wine List Awards ran in the August issue of the magazine.
According to Wine Spectator, the award recognizes “wine lists that present a solid collection of quality wines. They generally offer at least 100 wine selections that pair well with the restaurant’s menu but are also interesting in themselves.”
“We are very proud to have achieved this recognition from Wine Spectator for the first time,” said Bird & Bottle innkeeper Elaine Margolies. “We have worked hard at building our wine list since we re-opened the inn in 2005 and have been pleased to receive many compliments from our patrons on the quality of our selections.
“Our wines have been chosen to offer our guests a global variety of wineries, grapes, and vintages, as well as a range in price to satisfy the wine novice and the well-traveled palette. We purchase from smaller wineries where the emphasis is on quality, not just quantity,” said Margolies.
The Bird & Bottle, located in the scenic Hudson Highlands, has been welcoming travelers with traditional Hudson Valley hospitality since 1761. Diners and overnight guests enjoy the ambiance of yesteryear, with the inn’s beamed ceilings, wide plank floors, wood burning fireplaces and antiques throughout. The Bird & Bottle Inn is well-known as an important historic landmark and for its award-winning food and wine.
The Bird & Bottle Inn is located on Route 9 in Garrison, just 10 miles north of the Bear Mountain Bridge, 30 miles north of White Plains and 50 miles north of midtown Manhattan. Dinner is served at The Bird & Bottle Thursdays through Saturdays from 6 to 10 pm and Sundays from 4 to 8 pm. A champagne brunch is served on Sundays from 11:30 am to 3 pm. Charming overnight lodgings can be found in three rooms upstairs in the main building, plus a separate cottage on the property.
