WEST POINT, New York --- “Hudson’s Riverfront: The Next 400 Years,” an all-day conference focusing on ways to assist riverfront communities throughout the Hudson Valley in their revitalization efforts, will be held on Wednesday, November 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Thayer Hotel at West Point.

Organized by Historic Hudson River Towns, the conference will include discussions on how municipalities can spur the re-creation of their vibrant downtowns and create links to their re-emerging waterfronts. Other topics that will be explored include: green redevelopment opportunities and emerging trends in land use regulation, funding sources and the role of public/private partnerships, waterfront projects currently under way, and successful marketing of re-energized riverfronts and downtowns.

Speakers will include Roger Akeley, Commissioner of Dutchess County Department of Planning, Joe Rabito, Deputy Commissioner of New York State Office of Community Renewal, Tara Sullivan, Executive Director of the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial, and Jim Pinto, Director of Yonkers Downtown and Waterfront Development, among others.

The conference brings together public officials, entrepreneurs, industry and civic leaders, developers, funders and engaged citizens. Members of business improvement districts, chambers of commerce, tourism development agencies and Main Street programs from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Greene, Columbia, Albany and Rensselaer counties are all encouraged to join in this important discussion.

This conference is produced under the auspices of Historic Hudson River Towns’ Waterfront Revitalization Assistance Program, funded through a Title 11 grant of the Environmental Protection Fund from the NYS Department of State, Division of Coastal Resources.
