POUGHKEEPSIE, New York --- Mary Kay Vrba, director of Dutchess County Tourism and president of Hudson Valley Tourism, Inc., and Bruce Hillenbrand, vice president of marketing and strategy at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, have both been named to the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week Advisory Board.
“These additions to our Advisory Board speak to the strength of Hudson Valley Restaurant Week, which has grown into a promotional powerhouse for the region as a culinary destination,” says Janet Crawshaw, organizer of the event and publisher of
The Valley Table magazine. “We look forward to having the perspectives of Hudson Valley Tourism and the Culinary Institute of America well represented on our Board.”
“Local foods are healthy foods, and Hudson Valley Restaurant Week encourages restaurant owners and managers to feature local products, benefitting all who participate,” says Mary Kay Vrba, Director of Dutchess County Tourism. “Restaurant Week also serves as an economic generator for communities in the region by encouraging Hudson Valley residents and visitors to explore new areas and dine out often.”
“It’s exciting to be a part of this great promotion for Valley dining,” says Bruce Hillenbrand, speaking for the CIA. “The college is pleased to support its students and alumni by helping Restaurant Week communicate the wealth of dining experiences in the region.”
Hudson Valley Restaurant Week 2010, scheduled for March 15-28, will include two full weekends for the first time. In 2009, the event attracted 125,000 diners to 87 participating restaurants in six counties. More than 100 restaurants are expected to participate in 2010, Crawshaw says.

Kisco; Susan Crocker of Backyard Bistro in Montgomery; Agnes Devereux of The Village Tearoom in New Paltz; Michael Dwyer of The Thayer Hotel at West Point; Cathryn Fadde of Cathryn’s Tuscan Grille in Cold Spring; Eric Gabrynowicz of Tavern in Garrison; and Peter Kelly of Xaviars Restaurant Group.
