Obstetrician Vanessa Dinnall, MD, Joins Sleepy Hollow Medical Group at Phelps Hospital

Prior to joining Phelps, Dr. Dinnall was affiliated with Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan. Her philosophy about childbirth is in keeping with that of Phelps, which boasts the lowest Cesarean-section rate in the region and often incorporates midwives and doulas (trained professionals who provide physical, emotional and information support to mothers) in the birth process.

 

Dr. Dinnall, who is board certified in OB/GYN, earned her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan. As a research assistant at Albert Einstein, she studied methods for determining low volume of amniotic fluid during pregnancy. She also examined the effect of estrogen replacement therapy on osteoporosis, a project that was part of the Women's Health Initiative clinical trials.

 

During her training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Luke's-Roosevelt, Dr. Dinnall was recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award in 2000. She was named Berlex Best Teaching Resident in 2001 and served as administrative chief resident in 2002. Dr. Dinnall is a junior fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
