SLEEPY HOLLOW, New York – Laurent Drouhin, Director of the U.S. market for Maison Joseph Drouhin of Burgundy, France, will speak at an “Evening of Fine Wines with Fine Friends,” to be held at Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, Friday March 19, starting at 6:30 p.m. A benefit for Phelps Memorial Hospital Center, the event will feature 8 to 10 wines produced by Drouhin at their extensive vineyards in France and in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

“We are honored to welcome Laurent Drouhin to this event benefitting Phelps,” said hospital President and CEO Keith Safian. “The evening should be an extraordinary opportunity to sample and learn about fine wine, while relaxing with friends in an informal and convivial atmosphere.”

Orchestrating the winetasting will be John Krysko and Nick Antonaccio, co-hosts of "Glass Up Glass Down," a weekly cable TV and internet series focusing on adventures in wine and food around the globe, always from a local New York perspective.

Founded in Beaune in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin cellars have spread from the historical Cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Kings of France in Beaune (12th-18th centuries) to the Moulin Vaudon, an 18th century water mill in Chablis. A rigorous attention to detail, self-imposed discipline, a desire to learn, a strong sense of values, passion and daring are the qualities that have been handed down through the generations, together with the art of winemaking and a never-ending search for quality. Today, the fourth generation is at the helm.  Laurent Drouhin, his two brothers and his sister, each has a role to play in imposing the Family “Charter of Excellence.”

The Joseph Drouhin Domain was assembled parcel by parcel over the years and comprises today 73 hectares (182.5 acres) of vineyards in Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Cote Chalonnaise and Chablis. One of the most important domains in Burgundy, Maison Joseph Drouhin has more than two-thirds of the vineyards in the Burgundy region classified as Premier and Grand Crus. With close to 90 different appellations, Joseph Drouhin offers a fascinating array of Burgundy terroirs in all their authenticity and subtle variations. More information about Maison Joseph Drouhin is available at www.drouhin.com.

Wines selected by Laurent Drouhin for tasting will be available for purchase to benefit the hospital and hearty hors d’oeuvres will be served. More information and tickets at $150 per person may be obtained by contacting Ruth Burton in the Development Office of the hospital at 914-366-3105.
